launch pad school incursions

We've turned thousands of school students into published authors. We think that's pretty cool.

Incursion 1: Short Story Anthology Book

Full-day writing workshop, followed by a one-month story deadline.

From $19 per student

Become a published author with the help of children's author Ander Louis.

Your story and illustration will be published in an anthology book to keep forever!

  • Full day creative writing workshop hosted by Childrens' Author Ander Louis

  • One-on-one tutoring for each student during workshops

  • Professional editing and proofreading for every story

  • Trade-quality publishing and binding of the completed book

  • A book launch party

Working with author Ander Louis, your students will create their own short story narratives during a full day writing workshop. Because the stories will be published in a real anthology book, which will become part of the school library (and their own bookcase at home), students will be highly engaged to make a story they are proud of.

Later, students and their families will attend a “Book Launch Party”, to celebrate the release of their anthology book.

This is our most popular incursion, and where Launch Pad started.

Incursion 2: Life Hacks from Expert Writers

60-minute creative writing seminar, from $12 per student

What happens when you take years of experience and distil it into a 60-minute tutorial? You turn shy writers into authors who can write unputdownable stories!

  • You’ve learned the story mountain - now learn how the experts plan a narrative

  • Hone narrative arcs that draw readers in

  • Make your settings feel real and your characters come to life

  • Improve your use of descriptive language

  • Tailored for primary/high school audiences

Take your storytelling skills to the next level, with expert creative writing tips and techniques that you won’t find in the schoolbooks. Our seminars are designed to engage, entertain, and inspire your students - while solving the most common issues teachers face with student narratives. Your students will be turning in stories that are a joy to read - you’ll be begging them for sequels!

Every participant will receive a Seminar Booklet, containing lesson summaries, activities, blank templates, and quizzes.

Life Hacks for Writers is available for big or small groups, from a classroom to an auditorium.

Incursion 3: Sticky-Note Stories Anthology Book

2 hour writing workshop. Become an author in just 2 hours!

From $12 per student

Your Challenge: To create a short story using only 6 Post-it Notes!

Draw, write, decorate - and that's it, you'll be a published author!

  • 2 Hour creative writing workshop hosted by Childrens Author Ander Louis

  • One-on-one tutoring for each student during workshops

  • Trade-quality publishing and binding of the completed book

  • A book launch party (optional)

Working with author Ander Louis, your students will create their own short story narratives during a 2 hour writing workshop. But there is a twist - each student must tell their story in the space of just 6 Post-It Notes!

Because the stories will be published in a real anthology book, which will become part of the school library (and their own bookcase at home), students will be highly engaged to make a story they are proud of.

Later, students and their families will attend a “Book Launch Party”, to celebrate the release of the anthology book.

This is our more affordable and less time-consuming alternative to the full narrative incursion. Sticky-Note Stories is a great way to celebrate books, writing, and reading!

Why Choose a Launch Pad School Incursion?

The aim of Launch Pad is simple: to encourage a love of reading, writing, and books.

Working with author of children's novels Ander Louis, students complete a creative writing workshop, working on a short story of their own. A short while later, they attend a launch party to celebrate the release of their very own compilation book of short stories. It's fun, easy, and encourages children to read and write. With two customisable incursions to choose from, we're sure we can provide a rewarding creative writing experience your students will love.

All students will be highly engaged, have fun, and turn in a completed short story. And best of all, they will have a real book to keep!
